Principal's Message

Dear Team Colmer,
When I speak of Team Colmer, I am speaking of the students, teachers, parents, custodians,
cafeteria workers, maintenance staff, computer technicians, administrators and our entire
community. As demands and complexities of teaching children increase, it becomes evident that
we all need to work together to ensure that our children reach their potential!
This year at Colmer Middle School we are continuing to focus on increasing the literacy of our
students on a daily basis. Here at CMS, teaching is not impossible, learning is not impossible,
and EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE THROUGH OUR STUDENTS. As a member of Team
Colmer you can encourage your child to practice reading every day, writing in a journal and
having conversations with them about the current events going on in our world.
In addition, it is very important that your child is present every day at school. A student’s
presence on a daily basis will ensure he or she are consistently staying on track academically.
Also students will be recognized for academics, good attendance and behavior through our
Positive Behavior Incentive Program called P.A.W.S. This program shows our appreciation to
students who are committed to the possible.
I look forward to working with you to help your child reach his or her goals while at the
GREATEST MIDDLE SCHOOL IN MISSISSIPPI.
Your Principal,
Dr. Myrick Nicks
